Veteran actress Simran, known for her versatile performances over a career spanning 25 years, is set to charm audiences once again in her upcoming Tamil film Tourist Family, releasing on May 1. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Simran shared insights about the film, her recent experience in Good Bad Ugly with Ajith Kumar, and her evolving aspirations—including a desire to take on an action role.
Speaking about Tourist Family, directed by debutant Abishan Jeevinth, Simran said she was drawn to the project for its lighthearted yet emotional storytelling. “What excited me was that this is a family drama with plenty of humour. It’s the kind of film that brings families to theatres, makes them laugh together, and sparks conversations afterward. That’s when you know the team’s hard work has paid off,” she said.
The actress praised the young team behind the project, noting that the producers have already delivered hits like Good Night and Lover. Simran also spoke highly of her co-star Sasikumar, calling him a subtle performer and accomplished director. She described the film as a wholesome entertainer blending comedy, emotion, and romance.
Despite consistent offers, Simran revealed she remains selective about her roles. “The script is the hero for me. I don’t sign a film based on star power or big names. If a great script comes with a great team, that’s a bonus. But if the role doesn’t work or the remuneration isn’t fair, I walk away,” she said, adding that she avoids working with people who undervalue actors or treat casting as a favor.
Looking ahead, Simran expressed interest in stepping into action-oriented roles, showing that even after decades in the industry, she’s still eager to explore new territory and challenge herself as an artist.
