Around 200 tribal women from Tapan in the South Dinajpur district, according to the BJP, joined the party on Thursday. However, four of them allegedly gave in to TMC pressure and joined the government, whereupon they were coerced into performing the parikrama.The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is currently in power, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the TMC’s primary opposition, have recently come to blows over a video supposedly showing three women doing a “dandavat parikrama.”
According to people with knowledge of the situation, the women left the TMC on Thursday to join the BJP, but they returned the next day and were later seen on the road doing the dandavat parikrama.”Some people arrived and pressured us into joining the BJP. When we got back home, we had a difficult time falling asleep. Mamata Banerjee would always be our home. We would always be with her. We carried out the parikrama as reparation.
