Trump Slams Zohran Mamdani After Election Win, Calls Him ‘100% Communist Lunatic’

Former U.S. President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Zohran Mamdani following his victory in the Democratic mayoral primary in New York. Taking to Truth Social, Trump mocked Mamdani’s appearance and political views, calling him a “100% communist lunatic,” and criticizing his supporters, including progressive figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart,” Trump wrote, further accusing Democrats of “crossing a line.”

Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old Ugandan-born politician and son of Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair, is a self-proclaimed socialist backed by the Democratic Socialists of America. If elected, he would become New York City’s first Muslim mayor — a historic milestone he acknowledged in his victory speech, stating, “Tonight we made history.”

His strongest rival, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, conceded defeat after trailing by a significant margin in the polls. Cuomo’s campaign, seen as a political comeback after a sexual harassment scandal four years ago, failed to gain sufficient traction despite his name recognition and financial backing.

Mamdani’s win is seen as a significant shift within the Democratic Party, reflecting the rising influence of progressive and socialist ideals. His outspoken criticism of Israel and support for Palestinian rights have also drawn sharp ideological lines between him and Trump.

In a sarcastic closing to his online tirade, Trump wrote, “Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!” — highlighting the stark political divide as the 2024 campaign landscape intensifies.
