Paternity leave as a concept is still emerging in India. While mothers obviously need a break for 3 to 4 months pre and post the birth of their baby to take proper care of the child as well as her, however, a father has a responsibility to take care of his wife and child in that phase. Moral emotional and physical support is what a wife wants from her husband during the later stages of her pregnancy.
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has taken paternity leave for the birth of her baby. Thereby, he has become a role model for many other fathers to take take a leave and support their wife and child during these complicated phases.
“At Twitter, we encourage and fully support employees taking parental leave in whatever way works best for each person,” Laura Yagerman, the corporate communications head of Twitter, told The Washington Post in a statement. “It’s a personal decision, and we created a parental leave program (supporting up to 20 weeks of flexible leave) that is customizable for that reason,” she added.
