Vani Jayaram was a tremendously successful singer who passed away unexpectedly, shocking the Malayalam cinema industry because her voice was well-known throughout the state and she had sang more than 600 songs in her career, which began in 1973. In 1973, Vani, as she was more often known, made her Malayalam debut by recording the solo song “Sourayudhathil Vidarnnoru” for the movie “Swapnam,” which was written by Salil Chowdhary.
