Vani Jayaram was a tremendously successful singer who passed away unexpectedly, shocking the Malayalam cinema industry because her voice was well-known throughout the state and she had sang more than 600 songs in her career, which began in 1973. In 1973, Vani, as she was more often known, made her Malayalam debut by recording the solo song “Sourayudhathil Vidarnnoru” for the movie “Swapnam,” which was written by Salil Chowdhary.
M.K. Arjunan, G. Devarajan, M.S. Viswanathan, R.K. Shekhar, V. Dakshinamoorthy, M.S. Baburaj, Shyam, A.T. Ummer, M.B. Sreenivasan, K. Raghavan, Jerry Amaldev, Kannur Rajan, Johnson, and Raveendran were among the notable Malayalam composers with whom Vani collaborated.Her best work was produced when she worked with Arjunan and Sreekumaran Thampi, and she was comfortable working with the new generation of composers up until a few years ago.She performed the title song “Marathe Marikurumbe” for the movie “Puli Murugan,” which was listed among the 70 songs deemed eligible for Oscar nominations in the category of “Original Song” in 2018.
