On Tuesday, a symposium on the “Ease of Doing Business in Mining in India” was held here at a city hotel and was sponsored by the Delhi-based research company Metalogic PMS. The conference covered the urgent need to transform the country’s untapped mineral potential in a sustainable manner by ensuring the participation of all the stakeholders to achieve “Atma Nirbhar Bharat,” with the aim of inspiring all stakeholders to work together for an inclusive growth of the nation.
Mr. AT Mishra, IFS, Dy. Director General – Forests, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, welcomed the occasion by saying, “The mining sector contributes to the creation of both direct and indirect employment. The Indian government is dedicated to making improvements and has established a number of rules to foster an environment where doing the mining business in India.
While the conference focused on sustainable mining practices that would benefit the industry and the nation, delegates at the do spoke largely on the responsibilities of the miners to scrutinize plans holistically to address all challenges faced by the mining industry.
Mr. Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC Limited, who also attended the mega conference, said that he believes the State Government, the Forest Department, and the mining industry can all work together to accomplish Ease of Doing Business in Mining.
There was a lot of talk about the importance of incentives to attracting international participation, and everyone was exhorted to help India go on a faster track internationally by investing more money.
While in attendance at the mega mining conference, Mr. D.B. Sundara Ramam, Chairman, Tata Steel Mining and VP (Raw Material), Tata Steel, spoke about the problems and solutions facing Indian mining enterprises. Mr. Sundara Ramam discussed exploration in the mining industry, highlighting several issues that need to be resolved.
Many government officials, miners, investors, steelmakers, and policymakers met at a conference to talk about the difficulties they’ve encountered in the mining industry and how the government may make things easier for them to conduct business.
A distinguished panel consisting of Mr. Kalyan Mohanty, ED Exec., IPICOL, Mr. Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director Technical and Operations, OMC Limited, Mr. D.B. Sundara Ramam, Chairman, Tata Steel Mining, and Vice President (Raw Material), Tata Steel, and Mr. Sumit Deb, Chief Executive Officer, NMDC Ltd., presided over the first session of the conference.
The growing participation of “Women, Transgender, & Particularly Abled” in fundamental mining activities was also a topic of discussion at the conference. Along with Tata Steel Mining, Metalogic PMS put on a stage play meant to motivate mining companies to hire this unique talent pool for a variety of tasks. In the history of mining in the country, never before has there been such a large turnout of women at a conference.
In the end Managing Director, Tata Steel Mining Pankaj Satija stated that ‘Odisha could be the mining capital of India’. He also presented a detailed picture of the mining sector in India and spoke on different concerns of different mining companies and mining PSUs.
