Washington Sundar’s ‘dream ball’ to dismiss India’s nemesis in 1st New Zealand Test hailed as ‘God’s Plan’: ‘It was magical’

Washington Sundar delivered a stunning ‘dream ball’ to dismiss Rachin Ravindra, marking a remarkable return to Test cricket after more than three years. Playing in the second Test against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune, Sundar, who stepped in for Kuldeep Yadav, achieved his best bowling figures with 7/59. His outstanding performance included dismissing key players like Glenn Phillips and Tom Blundell, helping India bowl out New Zealand for just 259 in their first innings. During the post-match press conference, Sundar expressed his delight at his performance and described the delivery that dismissed Ravindra as truly special.

“Everything that happened today was truly satisfying, from the moment I got to play this game to making my comeback into the Test squad. So many things hold a special meaning for me, and I know I won’t forget this day—it’s unforgettable,” Sundar shared.

Regarding the wicket of Rachin Ravindra, he remarked, “It was a dream delivery. My goal was simply to hit the right areas, knowing there would be something for the spinners. When moments like that occur, they carry a lot of significance. It felt magical for sure.”
