Weather Station Inaugurated At Bakul Library

Today, Ms. Chithra Arumugam, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Department and Special Secretary, Planning and Convergence Department, Govt. of Odisha, who also serves as the head of the SDG Cell, inaugurated a weather station at the Bakul Library in Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar.

The US Consulate General in Hyderabad, working with the Bronx Community College of the City University of New York (CUNY) in the US, installed the weather station.

Along with Prof. Paramita Sen, Prof. Neal Phillip, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Sciences at Bronx Community College of CUNY, installed the weather station and gave the young BAKUL volunteers an explanation of its capabilities. The public will have access to weather station data in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of climate data and climate change. It will support the city’s monitoring of microclimate factors such as temperature, humidity, air pollution, UV and solar radiation, wind, and precipitation. This information will be accessible online to everyone, everywhere.
