The Modi government has taken a big step to help road side vendors. According to the PM SVANidhi Scheme, the Prime Minister Street Vendors Self-Trust Fund, the Ministry of Urban Development has signed an agreement with Zomato, an online food order and home delivery company. On Thursday, Jomato agreed to work with the plan. The government has already signed an agreement with Swiggy.
After the agreement between the central government and Swiggy, Zomato, street vendors can do home delivery of food after receiving food orders online. As a result, the sluggish sector will get jobs. Also, people who love to eat street food can enjoy such food at home.
Millions of street vendors have been affected by the corona crisis. Their livelihoods are going through a downturn. Jomato said it would launch the scheme by training 300 food vendors in six cities. Many people will also get employment once the plan is launched. The six cities are Bhopal, Nagpur, Patna, Nagpur, Ludhiana and Badodara. After the success of the first phase, Zomato will launch the plan in 125 more cities and train street vendors across the country.

Zomato will train these street vendors on food safety and hygiene and help them with their PAN cards, FSSAI registration, food menu digitization and food price fixing.
Under the PM SVANidhi Scheme, vendors can borrow Rs 10,000 as a working capital loan. It has to be paid annually as a monthly installment. If the loan is repaid on time, it will be credited to the vendors’ bank account on the basis of a 7 percent annual subsidy.
The scheme includes thrift shops, small salons, liquor stores, laundry services and more. This includes shops selling vegetables, fruits, tea, poultry, bread, eggs, clothes, books and more.
