There has been a shortage of vaccines in various states amid the rise in corona infections in the country. Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech have reported to the central government on their vaccine production. At the end of August or early August, the Serum Institute said it would produce 10 crore covishield vaccines a month, while Bharat Biotech has promised to produce 7.8 crore Covaxin.
This was reported by government sources on Wednesday. According to the information received, the Ministry of Health and the Director General of Drugs Control of India requested information on vaccine production in June, July, August and September. In response, the two companies reportedly provided information on production growth.
Dr. V Krishna Mohan, Director of Bharat Biotech, told the government that the production of Covaxin will increase to 3.32 crore in July and 6.92 crore in August. It will run from September. Similarly, Covishield production is projected to increase to Rs 10 crore in August from the Serum Institute of India. So this production will continue continuously from September.
