As per the official reports, 9 people have been allegedly arrested for assaulting Chilika MLA Prasanta Jagadev. The assault took place on the MLA earlier in the month of March this year. The accused persons were arrested following raids by the Special Squad led by Balugaon SDPO at different places. The team apprehended the accused persons from the jungle near Old Bankadagarh palace, Niladriprashad.
They are being produced before JMFC Banapur. Further investigation of the case is in progress to arrest the rest. This relates to Banapur PS Case No-117/22. It is pertinent to mention here that Chilika MLA Prasanta Jagadev was assaulted by angry locals after he mowed down several people near the Banapur Block office in Khurda district on March 12. More than 20 people including six-seven cops, journalists, and women were injured in the incident.
While conducting a probe into the case, police also arrested the Chilika MLA on March 22.
