After a little child drowned to death in a boat accident in the Brahmani River on Thursday morning, residents turned on Pratap Keshari Deb, the energy minister for the state of Odisha and the MLA for Aul.Thirty people were on board a boat travelling from Ekamania to Keradagad in Rajnagar when it capsized in Brahmani. The body of a young boy was pulled from the river, but the boatman who vanished after the accident is still missing.At least 30 passengers, eight to ten bikes, and the first boat left the panchayat this morning at around six in the morning, according to sources. After travelling for a while, the boat overturned.
After the incident, the boy’s body was left on the road by incensed townspeople, who also started a protest. When the Energy Minister and local MLA Pratap Keshari Deb visited the location, the enraged residents gheraoed him.
“Because there is no bridge over the river, our youngsters risk their lives to take exams, and expectant moms are denied access to good treatment. A young youngster lost his life today. We want a bridge over the Brahmani River erected right away; else, we won’t allow the police take the body, said Ranjita Behera, a local.
