Tripura CM requests a magisterial investigation into deaths from electrocution during the Rath Yatra

The PM Relief Fund will provide 50,000 for the injured and 2 lakh for each of the relatives of the bereaved, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.After seven people, including three children and three women, were electrocuted to death on Wednesday during the ‘Ulto Rath’ procession (the homecoming of Lord Jagannath’s chariot) in the Kumarghat neighbourhood of Unakoti district, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has called for a magisterial investigation.

In addition to the seven people who died, 16 people were hurt when the crest of a chariot collided with high tension power transmission cables in Kumarghat during the parade.Saha also disclosed compensation amounts of 4 lakh for the surviving family members of the deceased, 2.5 lakh for burn victims with over 60% burn injuries, and 75,000 for those with 40–60% burn injuries.
In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the PM Relief Fund would provide 50,000 for the injured and 2 lakh apiece for the relatives of the deceased.

“It is tragic that there was an accident in Kumarghat during the Ulta Rath Yatra. We offer our condolences to those who lost loved ones in this accident. May those who were hurt quickly heal. The local government is doing everything it can to help those in need, according to a tweet from the PMO.Saha visited the injured individuals at the hospital shortly after the tragedy and hurried to Kumarghat.

“The state government will cover the costs of all the injured devotees’ medical care. Patients will be sent to other states if necessary for better care. We have already requested an investigation to be led by the district magistrate of Unakoti. After obtaining the report, we would proceed appropriately, the CM told the press in Kumarghat last night.
