Yamuna water levels exceeded all previous records, as floodwater entered Civil Lines and ITO in Delhi.Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, ordered that all schools in the flooded districts will remain closed as the administration works on a war footing to rescue people as the Yamuna’s water level reached 208.46 metres on Thursday morning with the flood water entering the main city. In a further appeal, the chief minister urged residents not to visit the flooded areas. Kejriwal stated that the government is still working on the evacuation effort while pleading for help in an emergency.
With Kejriwal placing the blame on Haryana for releasing the water from the Hathnikund dam, the Delhi flood problem has turned into a political hotspot. Kejriwal wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday asking for the Centre’s help in slowing the water flow from Haryana towards Delhi.Despite the fact that it hasn’t rained in Delhi since Wednesday, the Yamuna’s water level has now hit an all-time high. According to Kejriwal, the city has been inundated by the water that Haryana unleashed, but it will stop in two to three days. Water penetrated ITO, Civil Lines on Thursday since the low-lying zones were already flooded.
