ISKCON is the “biggest cheat” in India, according to BJP MP Maneka Gandhi, who also claimed that the organisation sells cows to butchers from its gaushalas (cowsheds). In response to Gandhi’s accusations, ISKCON stated that the group is a global leader in cow protection. She then reflects on her trip to ISKCON’s Anantpur Gaushala in Andhra Pradesh, where she claims she was unable to locate any cows or calves that don’t produce milk. “The entire dairy had no dry cows. There was not one calf in sight. It indicates that all were sold.
A dry cow is one that hasn’t had its milk recently. All of ISKCON’s cows are being sold to butchers. Nobody else engages in this level of activity. On the streets, people continue to sing “Hare Ram, Hare Krishna.” Then they claim that milk is essential to their existence. No one has likely sold as many livestock to the butchers as they did, the accuser says.ISKCON’s national spokesperson Yudhistir Govinda Das said in the statement that it “has pioneered cow protection in many parts of the world where beef is a staple diet.”
Many of the cows used in ISKCON’s goshalas today were saved from being slaughtered, abandoned, or maimed before being brought to us.
