The ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ flagship rural welfare program was introduced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday in the districts of Kandhamal, Angul, and Gajapati. During the scheme’s video conference launch, Patnaik stated that every village and Panchayat in the state would be the focus of increased infrastructure. The Kandhamal district’s three Assembly seats will receive Rs 85.50 crore from the chief minister. These three constituencies are Phulbani, G. Udaygiri, and Baliguda. 2,099 projects in 171 Gram Panchayats across 12 blocks in these constituencies will be carried out with the help of the funds.
Similarly, five constituencies in the Angul district—Talcher, Pallahara, Chhendipada, Attmallik, and Angul—have been sanctioned Rs 112.50 crore for the implementation of 2796 development projects in 225 Gram Panchayats covering eight blocks of these constituencies. Additionally, the CM approved Rs 74.50 cr for the implementation of 1,662 projects in 149 gram panchayats spread across seven blocks in two Gajapati district constituencies (Mohana and Parlakhemundi).
Each Panchayat will receive Rs 50 lakh under the program to support the preservation of Jagannath culture, the development of digital infrastructure, and the upliftment of Odia culture. Speaking at the event, Patnaik stated that the scheme’s primary goal is to build digital infrastructure in rural areas. The villagers will have access to banking and the internet. The CM also mentioned the establishment of Science Park, skill development centers, and work hubs in the villages.
