Srimandir Nata Mandap Repair Almost Over, Informs ASI

Transforming Puri: Unveiling the Shree Jagannatha Heritage Corridor

The beam on the Nata Mandap at the Puri shrine of Shree Jagannath has been repaired. The top of the Garuda Stamba had a break in its beam. The beam on the south side of the Nata Mandap now has four steel beams installed. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) started the project and finished it on a war footing.

The assignment was supposed to be finished by today. The work on the beams is finished. According to ASI Superintendent DB Gadaik, the devotees are now having no problems. About 90% of the conservation work at Nata Mandap has been completed. The remaining tasks, in particular the plastering, will be completed during the Rath Yatra. The movement and organization of devotees would not be in danger, according to Gadnayak.

The ASI was mandated by the Orissa High Court to finish repairing Nata Mandap by the end of March. In February, the ASI began repairing Nata Mandap. The Chhatisa Nijoga rescheduled certain rites so that devotees might receive darshan without difficulty while at work.
