Aparajita Sarangi, the BJP’s MP candidate from Bhubaneswar, urged that the CAPF be stationed in certain of her constituency’s voting places because she believes there may be booth rigging during tomorrow’s election. She said that in a letter to the Khurda Collector and Returning Officer, BJD had hired two former police officers to assure rigging at a few booths in the Bhubaneswar and Khurda Municipality region. She stated in her letter that these two former police officers are former Additional SPs Shantanu Das and Nagendra Mund.
“I have received information from trusted sources about the engagement of two retired police officers, namely Mr Nagendra Mund and Mr Shantanu Das, who retired as Addl SPs by Biju Janata Dal. My sources have revealed that they have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring rigging in the following location.
- ward No 46 of Bhubaneswar Central-Bayababa Matha area & Saheed Nagar
- Unit–8–Mali Sahi
- Khordha Municipality area”, Sarangi stated in her letter.
For a free and fair election, the BJP candidate—who is also the current Member of Parliament for Bhubaneswar—asked the election officer to station paramilitary personnel like the CAPF in certain polling places.
