On Sunday, five pupils vanished from the Saptasajya woodland area in the Dhenkanal district. These people, who are all between the ages of 18 and 20, have been identified as Arakhita Mahapatra, Subham Mahapatra, Himanshu Das, Sujit Sahu, and Lucky Das from the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood near Cuttack district.
Reliable sources stated that seven pupils had visited Saptasajya. Five students them proceeded higher over the mountaintop of Bishnu Baba Ashram. Because of the intense rain, the five students became lost in the forest until dusk and were unable to find their way back to the Ashram. Their inability to communicate with others and their families was due to poor network access.
Three squads, led by Sadar Ranger Bibhudanand Mishra and IIC Deepak Lenka of the Sadar Police Station, began a search operation after obtaining information. By popping crackers, officials have tried to interact with the students. “The students shared their location after hearing the firecracker signal,” stated Sadar Forest Ranger Mishra.
Meanwhile, the search effort has been impeded by the region’s intense rains. Authorities from the forest department and the police are worried about the risks that the local wild animals provide. We’re waiting on further information on this.
