DJ Music Banned During Durga Puja In Bhubaneswar

This year, in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, DJ music would not be permitted during the Durga Puja celebrations. According to Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda, the Commissionerate Police has forbidden the use of vibrato and DJ music during the immersion processions after consulting with a number of stakeholders. The coordinating committee meeting included traffic regulation during the festival as one of the main issues to be addressed.

To reduce noise pollution, musical performances at puja pandals will henceforth end at 10 PM instead of midnight. Additionally, the police asked puja committees not to use loud firecrackers during the “Ravana Podi” ceremony. Throughout the holiday season, the Excise Department will take action to stop the unlawful sale of alcohol in an additional effort to uphold law and order. To make it easier for puja committees to obtain licenses to host events and immersion processions, the government has implemented a single-window approval system.

In order to prepare for the celebration, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set aside ₹3.35 crore for drainage upgrades, road repairs, and other necessities. The coordination meeting was attended by senior police authorities, fire department members, city MLAs, WATCO, Tata Power, and Mayor Sulochana Das of Bhubaneswar. While this is going on, the peethas have started the “Shohala Puja” routine, and 171 puja pandals in Bhubaneswar are getting ready to celebrate Durga Puja this year.
