BHUBANESWAR: Dinakrushna Mishra, the suspended Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Bharatpur police station, appeared before the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday in connection with the alleged assault on an Indian Army officer and his fiancée. Mishra gave his consent to undergo a polygraph test, along with other investigative tests, as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Sources indicate that Mishra will undergo the polygraph test once the court issues its directive. The development follows the Crime Branch’s petition filed in the SDJM Court, seeking approval for the polygraph test to verify the allegations against the suspended officer. In addition to consenting to the polygraph, Mishra has also agreed to undergo narco-analysis and brain-mapping tests to further assist the investigation.
The case stems from an incident in which Mishra and four other officers from Bharatpur police station allegedly assaulted and misbehaved with an Indian Army officer and his fiancée. The couple had visited the police station to lodge a complaint regarding a road rage incident, but the situation escalated into an altercation with the police personnel.
Following the incident, five officers, including Mishra, were suspended. The Crime Branch has since taken over the investigation, with the polygraph and other tests seen as crucial in determining the veracity of the accusations.
