Forest Minister Seeks Cooperation From All To Protect Wildlife

The public, media, volunteers, and social institutions should all provide unshakable collaboration in order for the numerous programs created for the conservation of wild animals and their habitats to be implemented successfully, opinionated Minister of Forests, Environment and Climate Change Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia In 2024, Minister Singkhuntia expressed his viewpoint as the principal guest during the 70th State Wildlife Week celebration in Bhubaneswar.

According to Singkhuntia, “Wildlife Week” is commemorated nationwide each year starting on October 2, the day of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, the illustrious leader of nonviolence and peace.

“The main objective of the Wildlife Week is to create widespread awareness among the public for the protection, conservation and growth of wildlife and their habitats. On this occasion, we remember our commitment to protect the wildlife of the state, which is a major responsibility given by the constitution of our country. ‘Jibe Daya’ (Compassion to Animals) is the basic mantra of our ancient culture and tradition. Human society and wildlife are intimately connected. This natural balance is essential for the survival of human society. For this, the contribution of wildlife is very important,” Singhkhuntia stated.

He said that the state’s priceless wildlife has always been protected, preserved, and grown by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The Minister revealed that, as of right now, 36.21 percent of Odisha’s land area is covered by forests, a figure that is considerably higher than the country average of 24 percent and concrete evidence of our state’s strong commitment to the preservation and protection of the environment, forests, and wildlife.
