The Jindal Group’s Jindal Panther Cement (JPC) has announced the opening of its first cement grinding unit (GU) at Angul, Odisha, with a 1.5 MTPA capacity. A major milestone in the Group’s decarbonization strategy, this state-of-the-art facility is intended to operate at the lowest clinker factor in the industry. It will use about 1 MTPA of blast furnace slag from the adjacent JSPL’s Angul integrated steel mill. With this action, JPC hopes to establish itself as a pioneer in the manufacturing of low-carbon cement.
The Angul Grinding Unit is essential to JPC’s goal of supplying important markets in Central and Eastern India with high-quality, low-carbon Portland slag and composite cement. The cement branch of JSPL is significantly lowering emissions and advancing sustainable industrial practices by reusing waste from its operations. This development advances the Group toward a more sustainable and greener future by being in line with JSPL’s larger decarbonization goals. With an expenditure of INR 2160 crore, JPC intends to increase its production capacity to 7 MTPA at both Angul and Raigarh. By supplying sustainable building materials to meet the region’s expanding infrastructure demands, this expansion will increase its market share in the cement sector.
JPC’s cement and JSPL’s rebar will be sold together through a shared distribution system under the well-known “Jindal Panther” brand umbrella, with the goal of becoming Eastern India’s first one-stop shop for homebuilders. With the joint supply of steel and cement, this integrated strategy simplifies procurement and adds value for individual housebuilders (IHBs) by providing a one-stop shop. This simplified procedure will benefit customers by offering quality, simplicity, and reasonable price. “The commissioning of our Angul Grinding Unit marks a significant step in our journey towards a sustainable future,” remarked Rohit Vohra, CEO of JPC, in reference to this accomplishment. We are in a unique position to help Eastern India’s infrastructure development while making a positive impact on the environment thanks to our low-carbon cement and creative distribution strategy.
