At the current India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, consumers are demonstrating a strong desire to purchase various types of fragrant rice grown by Odisha farmers. Odisha’s aromatic rice has now made its way to the nation’s capital. At the International Fair’s “Odisha Mandap,” the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment has a booth where it is displaying a range of agricultural goods, including rice varieties such as Sugandha, New Kalajeera, and Badshaha Bhog. There is a great demand for these fragrant rice cultivars that are grown organically.
An Odia diaspora member named Madhusudan Palai commended the “Odisha Mandap,” stating, “It looks the most beautiful.” Here, you may get a variety of fragrant rice. We are using aromatic fresh Kalajeera rice since we eat basmati rice.
In 13 districts of Odisha, eight varieties of fragrant rice are currently being grown. The Agriculture Department offers farmers a range of inputs and technical support. According to the government, the New Delhi trade show is expected to sell around 2.8 metric tons of fragrant rice this year.
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, highlighted the significance of the International Trade Fair, saying, “It’s a unique opportunity to display and sell various products. This year, we’ve put up various types of aromatic rice prepared by our farmers at the Agriculture Department stall.”
