Today at Lokseva Bhavan, a three-day nationwide workshop on the New Education Policy-2020 got underway. Attending the occasion and offering their perspectives were Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
The workshop aims to discuss the implementation of the policy in Odisha. Minister Majhi emphasized the importance of creating sound infrastructure and quality education in the primary education sector. He announced that the state government has decided to implement the new policy from the next academic year, replacing the existing 10+2 system with a 5+3+3+4 structure.Key features of the new policy include the opening of Kindergarten (KG) schools with a focus on pre-school education, and the establishment of Sishu Vatika schools to provide basic and numerical knowledge to children without pressure.
To assist these efforts, the state government intends to build a substantial infrastructure.The use of technology in education is also emphasized by the policy, since it is becoming a crucial component of the educational process. In order to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of creating a developed India, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the significance of the new policy.
Union Education Minister Pradhan emphasized that when creating the state’s curriculum, it is important to take into account the views of well-known Odisha educators. He underlined how crucial it is that the curriculum cover the state’s illustrious past, rich cultural legacy, and significant figures. The new policy encourages multilingual education in addition to mother language instruction, which will result in major changes in the state’s educational system, according to State School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
