Odisha CM and Deputy CMs Extend Heartfelt Greetings on Maha Vishuba Sankranti and Odia New Year

Bhubaneswar: On the auspicious occasion of Maha Vishuba Sankranti and the Odia New Year, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Odisha.

 

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi conveyed his heartfelt wishes through a social media post, invoking the blessings of Lord Jagannath for peace, prosperity, and happiness in everyone’s lives.

“My warmest greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of the holy Maha Bishub Sankranti and the Odia New Year. May everyone’s life be blessed by the grace of Lord Sri Jagannath,” the Chief Minister posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo highlighted the cultural and traditional importance of the Odia New Year, calling on the people to celebrate with enthusiasm and unity.

“Odia New Year is one of the highlights of our Odia culture and tradition. Let us all, as proud Odias, celebrate Odia New Year together with great pomp and show our gratitude to the call of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi,” his message read.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also shared her wishes with Odia communities across the globe, underlining the universal spirit of the festival.

“Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all our Odia brothers and sisters across the country and the world on the occasion of the holy Odia New Year, Maha Bishubh Sankranti, and the beloved Pana Sankranti of our Odia home,” she wrote.

Maha Vishuba Sankranti, also known as Pana Sankranti, marks the beginning of the Odia calendar year and is celebrated with rituals, cultural events, and traditional offerings. It holds great religious and cultural significance, especially in the worship of Lord Jagannath.

As Odisha welcomes the new year, leaders’ messages echo the spirit of unity, devotion, and pride in the state’s rich heritage.
