Odisha Strengthens Flood Response As River Discharge Drops In Balasore And Mayurbhanj

The Water Resources Department of the Odisha government has issued an order to intensify flood management operations in response to the deteriorating flood scenario in the Subarnarekha and Budhabalanga river basins. In order to keep a careful eye on the flood conditions impacting the Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, and Jalaka rivers, Chief Engineer (Drainage) Abinash Roul has been directed to travel straight to the Balasore headquarters. To guarantee prompt and efficient flood mitigation, Roul will collaborate with field officers, district officials, and local governments.

“In view of flood situation in Subarnarekha & Budhabalnga Basin Odisha, Sri Abinash Roul, CE, Drainage (Mob No.9437034763) shall move to Balasore Head Quarter immediately to monitor overall flood situation in Subarnarekha, Budhabalnga & Jalaka river & interact with field level officers as well as district & local administration for smooth management of flood,” the order stated.

Additionally, officers from the drainage and canal divisions in Bhadrak, Balasore, and Morada have been instructed to report to Roul and assist local teams in executing flood control measures.
