Manipal Hospitals in Bhubaneswar is launching an innovative public awareness campaign titled “K&N Performance Review” to mark World Kidney Day. The initiative aims to highlight the importance of kidney health and encourage early screening. By shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, the campaign seeks to help people better understand how well their kidneys are functioning and why regular health checks are essential.
The campaign was officially launched on 12 March 2026 at the hospital, where visitors participated in an interactive session that allowed them to learn about kidney health while getting their basic health parameters checked. Adding a creative and engaging element to the initiative, the hospital introduced two mascots—Kid and Ney—who will visit high-footfall areas across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack over the course of a week to spread awareness about kidney health. The mascots will carry a QR code that visitors can scan to answer a few simple questions and understand why their kidneys might be due for a “review.”
To translate awareness into action, the hospital is also offering customized kidney screening packages for individuals who complete the Kidney Risk Assessment, designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of kidney health. The packages are available at Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, and will be valid until 31 March 2026.
The initiative will be led by a multidisciplinary team of specialists including Manas Ranjan Pradhan, Senior Consultant – Urology; Subodh Das, Senior Consultant – Urology; Saiprasad Sahoo, Senior Consultant – Nephrology; and Sukanto Kishore Das, Senior Consultant – Nephrology.
Doctors at Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar emphasized that many kidney diseases progress silently and are often detected only at an advanced stage. The “K&N Performance Review” campaign is designed to make kidney health easier for people to understand and monitor—much like reviewing performance indicators in everyday life. By encouraging individuals to review their Kidney Performance Indicators through regular screening and preventive care, the initiative hopes to help the community identify risks early and take proactive steps to protect their kidney health.
