The Metro Railway project in Odisha will now be a tri-city venture that includes Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, according to Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra. Minister Mohapatra stressed the necessity of a contemporary metro rail system in the area while addressing the media. He explained that the project is intended to create an integrated tri-city metro rail network that connects Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, rather than only Bhubaneswar.
He added that Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, and Paradip would become a significant economic area with all-around economic growth and development in the days ahead. The Minister questioned why Bhubaneswar is currently dealing with traffic and infrastructure problems given the absence of adequate urban planning in the past. Did the government not plan towns for the past twenty-four years? “Who is accountable for the current state of affairs?” he questioned. He made it clear that the Metro Rail project is not opposed by the present administration.
“We want to build the metro rail service. We have not halted the project. The necessary processes are underway,” the Minister said. Minister Mohapatra explained that constructing the metro without proper road infrastructure would create major difficulties for daily commuters during the construction and testing phases.
Before beginning metro development, he emphasized the necessity of alternate highways. He went on to say that in order to carry out the project successfully, the state administration would look to the Central administration for the help it needs and embrace appropriate technology.
