The Odisha government plans to install electric boats at popular tourist locations around the state, marking a huge step toward environmentally friendly travel. Tenders for the project’s initial phase, which will cover five strategic areas, have already been released by the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC). By substituting environmentally friendly electric boats for conventional and diesel-powered boats, this project seeks to lessen pollution and reliance on fossil fuels.
A 30-seater electric boat will be used at Kolab in Koraput during the first phase. Two boats, a 20-seater and a 10-seater, will be presented in Hirakud in Sambalpur. An eight-seater luxury electric boat will be given to Barkul on Chilika Lake in Khordha, while a twenty-seater electric boat will be given to Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara.
These new boats will have state-of-the-art amenities, including solar electricity, CNG, and electric car technology. Increased sustainability, dependability, and visitor comfort are all guaranteed by this hybrid setup.
