Ananya Awasthi, an IPS officer, became the first woman to hold the esteemed post at the state’s Raj Bhavan when Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati chose her as his Aide-de-Camp (ADC) in a historic gesture. The Governor welcomed Awasthi to her new position as the Police ADC during a ceremonial induction ceremony on Sunday at Lok Bhavan. Senior representatives from the Governor’s Secretariat were present during the event.
Awasthi held the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), UPD, Cuttack, prior to her appointment. Her appointment is an important turning point for women in public service as the first female ADC to the Governor of Odisha. She takes over for IPS officer Kuldeep Meena, who was the Governor’s Police ADC before.
Two Aides-de-Camp, one from the Odisha Police and the other from the Indian Navy, support the governor of Odisha. Lieutenant Harshit Deo of the Indian Navy will remain the Governor’s Naval ADC, while Ananya Awasthi will be the Police ADC. When it comes to helping the Governor with ceremonial events, formal engagements, and other protocol-related tasks, the ADC is crucial.
