In addition to a variety of support measures for farmers, fishermen, traders, artisans, and other vulnerable groups, the Odisha government on Sunday announced a comprehensive relief package for families impacted by Cyclone “Arnab,” offering each affected family 50 kg of rice and Rs 2,500 in financial assistance. Following a high-level meeting at the Special Relief Commissioner’s office to discuss relief operations, restoration work, and damage assessment following the storm, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the package.
In addition to help for damaged homes, livestock losses, fisheries, small companies, and other livelihood activities, the package would provide input subsidies to farmers who have experienced crop losses of at least 33%. After the meeting, Majhi spoke to the media and stated that the state administration was dedicated to making sure that each impacted individual got the support they needed.
He said he was in regular communication with the Central Government regarding the cyclone’s impact and the steps being taken by the state administration. He had also discussed the situation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
According to the Chief Minister, a Central Inter-Ministerial Committee would travel to Odisha on November 2 to evaluate the damage, especially in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamala that are most severely impacted. Majhi stated that while storm Arnab’s effects have not yet diminished, “Murasu,” another storm, might be on its way. He gave the order for government teams assigned to relief and monitoring missions to stay in their designated locations and react to the changing circumstances.
