For the transformation of Puri and Ekamra Kshetra in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha Government has allotted Rs 742 crore in the Budget 2021-22. These transformations will help these two places to convert into a world-class heritage spot.
As per the report under the Augmentation Basic Amenities & Development of Heritage & Architecture at Puri (ABADHA) scheme, an amount of Rs 542 crore has already been allocated for the development work at Puri.
And the state government will spend Rs 200 crore under the Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monuments Revival Action (EKAMRA) plan for Bhubaneswar.
Under the ABADHA scheme, the Odisha Government had designated Rs 695 crore for the construction of a heritage security zone around the Sri Jagannath temple at Puri in the 2020-21 budgets.
The scheme also includes the Shree Setu project, Musa river revival plan, Jagannath Ballav pilgrim center, Matha Development Initiative, and development of heritage lakes.
The report further states that the Odisha Government is preparing to spend the EKAMRA funds of Rs 200 crore in pedestrianizing across 65-acre land around the Lingaraj temple.
Under the Samaleswari Temple Area Management & Local Economy Initiatives (SAMALEI), around Rs, 200 crores have been granted. This is the new scheme plan by the state government for the development of the Samaleswari temple and its boundary in Sambalpur.
For the expenditure of the tourism sector around 25 percent has been heightened from Rs 401 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 500 crore in 2021-22 budget. Right now the allocation includes Rs 349 crore for the development and management of tourist infrastructure and Rs 83 crore for advertisement.
