The sudden spike of the Covid-19 cases has made the Odisha Government apply the old guidelines and protocol all again but the Centre Government has assured that there will be no lockdown for the future.
But now with the increasing number of cases of Covid-19, the Odisha Government has made it mandatory for the people coming to the state to show an RT-PCR negative report and the rule will apply to all models of travel. This fresh guideline was issued by the Chief Secretary due to the rise of cases in some districts in Odisha.
As per the report travellers or people who are entering the state by train, bus, airplane, waterways, or in a private vehicle will have to produce an RT-PCR negative report which should be obtained within 72 hours of the entry or the final vaccination certificate. And the latest guidelines by the state government will come into force from 12 April.
Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena said “The people coming without such a report shall have to undergo 7-day mandatory Home/ Institutional quarantine and this will be effective from April 12. The district magistrates-cum-collectors of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nawrangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore are commissioned to set up and operationalize temporary medical centres/ cluster temporary medical centres as per need for giving institutional quarantine facilities to those coming from other states. Expenditure for opening and running of such facilities shall be borne by Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).”
Further, the Odisha Government has also suspended all public transport from Odisha to Chhattisgarh and vice versa from April 10 till April 30, 2021. A proper order will be issued by the Transport Commissioner of Odisha and the department along with the Odisha Police and the guidance of the district collectors will set up border checkpoints (BCPs) at strategic locations/ border entry points to manage the entry of incoming persons/ vehicles.
As per the Health Department official report, the COVID-19 tally in Odisha ascended to 3,45,526 and 879 more people tested positive for the infection, the highest single-day rise this year. And the active cases in Odisha surged to 4,888 from just 665 on March 8, and 3,38,662 patients have so far recovered.
