As the Board of Cricket Control in India is going to initiate two new teams in the Indian Premier League’s upcoming 2022 season, Odisha Cricket Association is binding hopes to see a ‘Cuttack’ team in the tournament.

The Board of Cricket Control in India is going to initiate two new teams in the upcoming IPL match to be held next year. And it is speculated that Cuttack might be a team in the upcoming tournaments.
Sanjay Behera, OCA Secretary stated that a total of 20 companies is going to bid for teams for IPL 2022. The companies will take a call whether they will take up Cuttack or not. Since JSPL is one of the companies, they expect it will bid for Cuttack as its venue.
For the year 2022, the tournament will be having 10 teams and Naveen Jindal from Jindal Steel and Power has expressed their interest in owning the franchisee of Cuttack. The OCA is making all the efforts to make Cuttack one of the IPL venues and the association is in talks with several private organisations who can be potential buyers for the Cuttack franchisee.
BCCI has shortlisted six cities for the eventual two new franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The six cities shortlisted for the T20 extravaganza include Cuttack, Guwahati, and Ranchi from the East, Ahmedabad in the West, Lucknow in the Central Zone and Dharamsala in the North.
