Noor Tabassum is an author of bestselling books SENSIBLES AND TWISTED FIRSTS, which speaks of her childhood of two naughty boots and their journey. She has also written a book on women empowerment stories called ADORABLE PROD. All her romantic poems have also been published in her solo book which is to be launched soon. She was born in Karnataka, India. Her childhood was spent in greens as her father was an engineer in dam construction. She is an ardent lover of greenery and wild animals. She is a keen observer and is comfortable in her space. Writing poems and short motivational stories are her passion which she inherits from her father. Her stories, articles, and poems are published in Times of India, Mirror stories, Muse India my space, and Gulf news. She is a blogger in the Times of India. She believes that writing has the power to change the thinking of a person. It is more potent than the sword. She pours her heart out through her writings. SINCE WHEN DID YOU START WRITING AND TELL US ABOUT YOUR WRITING JOURNEY?
Writing has been my passion since my childhood. I inherited it in my genes as my dad was a renowned poet in Kannada (my regional language). I started writing poems when I was in grade 7th. Since I studied in a convent, my mothers (nuns of the convent), encouraged me to write. When I had written nearly 50 poems, they were published in a magazine, and it was sent to London from where my convent was connected. My interest in writing started from there itself. But when I reached college, my concentration in my studies increased and I was away from writing. I had taken the science stream. But then again, my interest in writing increased after the death of my mom in 2020. She always wanted me to pay interest in my writing. After her death, I again started writing to fulfill her desire.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR SOLO BOOK AND HOW WAS THE JOURNEY OF WRITING?
As I said, after the death of my mom, I started concentrating on my writing. Initially, I started writing poems, but then I thought that I should pay tribute to the upbringing of my parents. I have to write about childhood, that would relate to everybody. So, I started writing about the short incidents that took place in my childhood. My sister and I were the most mischievous children ever who did a lot of mischief. I scripted it all and published it. The book was named SENSIBLES. I was flabbergasted at the response. Everybody who read appreciated it and it was one of the best-selling books. It encouraged me to write another book describing the first experiences of my life. TWISTED FIRST is the book which tells all the first experiences of my life. My third book ADORABLE PROD will be launched very soon. It is the book that has three stories of women who believed in themselves and changed the way we look at the world. My fourth book is my poetry collection. It will also be launched very soon.
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TIME BETWEEN YOUR WORK AND YOUR PASSION?
Work is the responsibility that I need to do with devotion and dedication. It shows my personality. I work, whether I like it or not because it is my necessity. It is at times stressful and tiring. But passion never tires you. It gives you the energy to achieve what you want. It is the love of life and passion that drives us towards contentment and happiness. When I am tired of work, my writing relieves my stress and tension. Once I start writing, I forget time. All the frustrations, anxiety, and tensions evaporate when I hold my pen. I am in a different zone of cheerfulness. So, it is easy for me to follow my passion.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A PLOT OR THEME FOR YOUR BOOKS/WRITE-UPS?
I did not have to choose a plot for my first two books. They were all of sudden. I thought of writing a book on my childhood where I could involve my parents. It was like a tribute to my parents. My first book was on the childhood of my sister and me. My second book was on the first experiences of my life. But my third book is on the strength of women. Women are the epitome of patience and love. These stories tell us how women handle every situation with patience, love, and intelligence. My fourth book is the collection of romantic poetry. I am a romantic person. The romantic feelings come naturally to me. This book will have poems of different shades of love.
ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO THE BUDDING WRITERS.
Making writing your passion. Write whatever you want to express. Let your pen travel through all the corners of your heart and express it fearlessly. Do not worry about what people will think. Just write to express not to impress. Believe me, when your feelings are genuine, the world will love whatever you have written. Expressing what is in my heart is the most satisfying feeling ever. So never be afraid to express. Let your writeups define you. As an author, we are highly responsible for society. Our write-ups can change the way our society thinks. So, be wise and write well
