A cyclonic storm is brewing over the Andaman sea. So far a low pressure has been created in the area. However, as per IMD, the low pressure can turn into a cyclonic storm. Moreover, it may be very likely that the storm will pass over Odisha and West Bengal.
Therefore a preparatory meeting to deal with the possible cyclonic storm was held by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Tuesday. As the city is likely to be submerged due to heavy rain triggered by the cyclone, the CMC decided to engage 200 motor pumps for the drainage of water.
The fire department will also deploy 20 pumps. If necessary, 25 new pumps, will be procured, informed Mayor Subash Singh.
