After lots of drama, secret and wait and watch game, BCCI and team India finally announced the person who will lead India in the fifth test against England which will start from July 1. However, it is not the regular captain Rohit Sharma as he is out of the test due to being positive with COVID. With India’s new Vice Captain Lokesh Rahul too missing from the series due to injury, Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in the fifth test against England.
Jasprit Bumrah becomes the first bowler after Kapil Dev to lead Team India in red ball cricket after almost 35 years. Rishabh Pant has been named as the vice captain of the team. While England have already announced their playing 11, team India is still on a wait and watch game.
However, even though Ravichandran Ashwin is fit, Team India is likely to play four pacers with Jadeja as the fifth bowler. With no Rohit in the squad, Chetashwar Pujara or Humuma Vihari might open with Shubman Gill.
