BMC Conducts Awareness Campaign To Check Single-Use Plastic Items Sale

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) gas started a special awareness campaign to ban the use of Single-Use- Plastic. The awareness campaign starts today.

A team of the BMC conducted the special drive from Nalco Chhak to Damana Bazar. Team members sensitized the vendors on single-use plastic items and the regulation of 2021. During the drive, about 21 vendors were covered on the day and about 2.5 quintals of polythene and single-use plastic items were seized out of which 1.00 quintal was polythene carry bag.  A fine of Rs 1800 was collected from a vendor.

In the team Central squad, police, and North Zone enforcement staff were present.BMC has planned to carry out an intensive campaign to sensitize people and vendors.

The civic body has also planned Zone wise enforcement to check the items for a clean and green Bhubaneswar, informed Suvendu Kumar Sahoo, BMC Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation). Sahoo urged community cooperation to make the driving success in the smart city.
