The Enforcement Directorate (ED) discovered additional Rs 28.90 crore in cash, over 5 kilogramme gold, and many papers in Arpita Mukherjee’s second residence, days after recovering Rs 21 crore from her first. Officials reported a large sum of money was found from the toilet after a 10-hour count. So far, 50 crore in cash has been collected from Mukherjee’s two properties. Authorities have also confiscated some critical papers that are being analysed.The ED conducted the raids as part of its investigation into a money laundering case connected to a state-wide school employment fraud. Partha Chatterjee, a senior member in Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet and a close adviser to the chief minister, is suspected of playing a part in reportedly unlawful hiring of school teachers and personnel at government-run schools when he was Education Minister. ED sleuths searched various places in connection with the ongoing investigation into anomalies in school hiring, according to a central agency official, as reported by PTI. Raids were also carried out in a few locations, including Rajdanga and Belghoria, where three homes belonging to Arpita were discovered.In response to Chatterjee and his associate’s interrogation, the official stated that while Mukherjee has been “compliant throughout,” the former Bengal education minister has been “noncooperative.””We’re having trouble interrogating Mr Chatterjee. He has been obstinate and uncooperative with our officers. He is not responding to our inquiries “According to the official. Before being grilled by the ED, Chatterjee and Arpita were transported to the ESI hospital in Joka for routine medical checks. They were transported back to the ED office at the CGO building in Salt Lake after being discharged from the hospital after nearly two hours of medical tests.
