Petroleum products are now priced in line with market rates. This implies that as global crude prices rise and the rupee depreciates against the dollar, fuel prices will also rise each time. Daily fuel price revisions are made by public sector OMCs like BPCL, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd in accordance with foreign exchange rates and international benchmark prices. Every day at six in the morning, any changes to fuel prices take effect.
Tuesday’s fuel prices in Bhubaneswar, the state’s capital, are Rs 104.86 for gasoline and Rs 96.37 for diesel, whereas in Cuttack, they are Rs 103.19 for gasoline and Rs 94.76 for diesel.
In Malkangiri, where fuel prices are the highest in the state, the cost of a gallon of gasoline is Rs 109.20, while a gallon of diesel is still being sold there for Rs 100.56, unchanged from the previous day.
