On Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced input assistance for drought-affected areas of the state. According to sources, the state exchequer will spend approximately Rs 200 crores to assist distressed farmers.
According to reports, approximately 2,63560 hectares of crop land in 64 blocks and 15 ULBs of 12 districts have suffered crop losses of 33% or greater.
Despite the state government’s constant follow-up and pursuit with the Technical Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, many farmers in drought-affected areas have yet to receive their Crop Insurance dues. Given the gravity of the situation, the demands of affected farmers, and crop loss reports from Collectors, the Chief Minister has decided to provide assistance from the State’s own resources, according to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued today.
