Odisha Govt To Accelerate Tourism Development; E-Vehicles & Land Bank On The Cards

The reconstruction of the ancient Dhauli site, the promotion of electric cars in the tourist industry, and the establishment of a specialized tourism land bank are just a few of the major efforts the Odisha government has chosen to accelerate the growth of the state’s tourism industry. This was made public after the Tourism Department’s high-level review meeting on Tuesday. The conference, which took place in the Conference Room of Tourism Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and was presided over by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Pravati Parida, examined the status of many ongoing tourism infrastructure projects, development projects at popular tourist locations, and marketing tactics.

Parida gave the development projects in and around Dhauli particular attention. In order to encourage eco-friendly travel and improve visitor convenience, she instructed officials to emphasize the use of e-vehicles for local and tourist transportation under the Dhauli Master Plan. Additionally, she emphasized the need of integrating development and beautifying the temples of Kapileshwar and Sukhmeswar, Dasia Bauri Peeth, and other historical monuments in the Bhubaneswar-Puri corridor. The Minister gave authorities instructions to engage with relevant ministries, secure the required clearances and approvals, and begin the proposed work as soon as possible.

The department’s advertising and publicity plan for the Bhubaneswar-Puri corridor was also discussed, keeping in mind the upcoming Rath Yatra and the expected surge in tourists and devotees. Various activities related to homestay promotion, adventure tourism, safety and security of tourists, and sanitation at major tourist destinations were reviewed during the meeting. The government also decided to create a special tourism land bank similar to those created for other industries to facilitate infrastructure development and attract investment in the tourism sector.
