Even though Holi is celebrated practically everywhere in India, Braj is where it is most well-known. The historical territory of Braj includes Mathura, Vrindavan, and some surrounding districts. Because of its distinctive customs and traditions, Holi draws tourists and pilgrims from all over the world to this area. Lord Krishna was born in Mathura, and his early years were spent in the city of Vrindavan.
When Krishna was a little child, he complained to his mother about how his Radha Rani was fair but he had a dark skin. Yashoda, his mother, made the humorous suggestion that he draw pictures of Radha using various colours. Over time, Krishna would travel from his hamlet of Nandgaon to Radha’s village of Barsana to paint Radha and the other Gopis. They also used to beat him with sticks in a joking manner. .Celebrations for Holi in Barsana begin around a week before the actual festival. Radha lived in the village of Barsana, which is close to Mathura. It is well-known for its lathmar Holi, during which women beat males with sticks in good fun. Radha formerly resided in Barsana, and Krishna would travel there to give Radha some colour.
