Jyotirmayee Mohanty, an odia scientist, receives accolades from PM Modi on the “Mann Ki Baat” program

Jyotirmayee Mohanty, an Odia scientist, won the IUPAC Award 2023 and was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his “Mann Ki Baat” speech. She is the first Indian woman scientist to get this honor. During the 99th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi praised Professor Jyotirmayee’s achievements for receiving the IUPAC Award 2023 in the category for “Distinguished Women in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.”

“Jyotirmayee Mohanty, Scientist of Bhabha Atomic Research Center has also notched another achievement for the country. Jyotirmoyee has received a special award from IUPAC in the field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering,” the PM said.

Jyotirmayee Patra, the first woman to obtain a fellowship from the Science and Engineering Research Board, is a scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Institute in Mumbai and the daughter of famous pediatrician Dr. Baikuntnath Patra of Chauliaganj in Cuttack. Also, she has been awarded a fellowship from the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in the UK.
