Ratan Tata, the esteemed Indian industrialist credited with transforming the Tata Group into a globally recognized conglomerate, passed away at the age of 86, the company announced late Wednesday. He had been in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Mumbai hospital.“It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Mr. Ratan Navel Tata, an extraordinary leader,” the Tata Group stated on X. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran confirmed his passing late Wednesday night, honoring Tata as a “friend, mentor, and guide.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu led the nation in honoring the late Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group.In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi referred to Tata as a “visionary,” sharing, “I frequently met him in Gujarat during my time as Chief Minister, where we exchanged views on various issues. I always found his insights to be very enriching. Our discussions continued when I moved to Delhi. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”
