In order to increase connectivity and reduce traffic congestion, the Odisha government ordered authorities to hasten the completion of two important National Highway projects and significant road infrastructure projects in Bhubaneswar.
Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan evaluated the plans for the expansion and improvement of the Koida–Chandikhole and Rimuli–Champua National Highways while presiding over a review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan. In order to guarantee that the projects are finished within the allotted time, he directed representatives of the Works Department and the National Highways Authority to expedite the creation of project maps, land purchase, forest clearances, and other regulatory approvals.
The two highway projects, according to the minister, would boost Odisha’s mineral economy, industrial expansion, tourism, and transportation system while advancing the state’s general development. Later in the day, Harichandan presided over another assessment meeting to evaluate the status of significant road infrastructure projects meant to improve vehicle mobility around the city and offer a long-term solution to Bhubaneswar’s increasing traffic congestion.
The Bhubaneswar Inner and Outer Ring Road, the Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan Road, the Left Parallel Road, the Pathargadia–Daruthenga Road, the Sikharachandi–Pathargadia–Raghunathpur connecting road, the Kalinga Park–Patia Railway Station Road, the Kalinga Park–Phulnakhara Road, the D.N. Rengalia–Kalinganagar Road, the Sum Hospital–Sampur Road, the Khandagiri–Pokhariput Elevated Corridor, the Daya West Canal Road, and the proposed elevated corridor on the Bhubaneswar–Puri Road.
While maintaining construction quality standards, the minister instructed staff to expedite surveys, project designs, statutory permissions, and implementation. He said that the improvements will greatly enhance traffic management and contribute in the development of a top-notch road network in the state capital. Sanjay Kumar Singh, the principal secretary of the Works Department, senior representatives from the National Highways Authority of India, and engineers and officials from the Works Department attended the sessions.
