One of the most heartbreaking developments from the Nepal disaster today concerns a group of 29 people from Bhopal who remain untraceable after the catastrophic flash floods.
According to The Indian Express, family members say they received a final, chilling phone call from some of the group, with relatives reportedly saying “take care of the children” before communications were lost. None of the 29 people has been traced since.
The wider disaster has become even more severe. Nepal’s authorities now report 626 deaths and 2,426 people missing, including hundreds of foreign nationals. More than 300 Indians are among those still unaccounted for.
India has intensified its response, sending additional humanitarian supplies, doctors and specialised tunnel-rescue personnel to Nepal.
