According to the weather office, throughout the nite of September 23 and the early hours of September 24, a depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to develop into a deep depression and cross the north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur.
At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, the system was centered over the west central and adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal, close to latitude 17.7°N and longitude 87.8°E. It originated from a clearly visible low-pressure area over the west central and adjacent east central Bay of Bengal. It was situated approximately 310 kilometers southeast of Puri, 310 km east-southeast of Gopalpur, 390 km east-southeast of Andhra Pradesh’s Kalingapatnam, and 470 km east of Visakhapatnam.
Over the course of the next 24 hours, the depression is most expected to move west-northwest, deepen into a depression over the west central and adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal, and then cross the shores of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha as a deep depression between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur.
