Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Croatia in the first FIFA World Cup 2022 semi-final caused the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar to explode in joyful singing. Argentina maintained a dominant position throughout the game thanks to Messi and Alvarez.
Argentina scored twice in the opening period, with Messi scoring from the penalty spot in the 34th minute and Julian Alvarez scoring again just five minutes later.In the 69th minute, Alvarez scored to make it 3-0 and end Croatia’s chances of pulling off a late comeback.Although Croatia was hoping to reach their second straight final, it was not to be for the European team. Argentina will now play either France, the defending champion, or upstart Morocco in the championship game.
Messi played for Argentina in the World Cup’s main competition for the 25th time during Tuesday’s semi-final, tying the record for most appearances.
